Just to clarify, I realize he wasn’t really the #1 overall recruit in both sports, but I just looked this up on Scout.com, and in 2005, he was rated ahead of Colt McCoy, Colt Brennan, and Chase Daniel among others as a Quarterback prospect. And he was rated ahead of so many much better players in basketball that it pointless to list all of them, but among the names are Mario Chalmers, Danny Green, Shawne Williams, Terrence Williams, Chris Douglas Roberts, Wilson Chandler, and Darren Collison. Now, I know these rankings are always an inexact science and filled with disappointments, but seriously how could so many people have watched him and thought to themselves “you know what this little unathletic white guy is really special”? It’s completely inexplicable to me on every level.
