Most Overrated Team: Duke. The minute they run into a good team, they will lose. It’s that simple. Singler, Scheyer and Henderson can be a very good trio when they’re on, but they have no quality big men, they’re point guard play is mediocre, and they’re disturbingly unathletic when compared to the other big teams. Fortunately for them, Texas and Minnesota both pretty much suck, so they’ll probably get to the sweet 16. I’m so happy these will be the last few games I ever have to look at Greg Paulus’s annoying face. Congrats on being the #1 overall recruit in two different sports and ending up as the backup point guard your senior year!

Most Underrated Teams: Villanova and Florida State. I already posted about Nova the other day, so I’ll keep this short. I think they got a favorable draw, as they’re in Philly and their 2 seed is Duke, so they’re a Final 4 pick for me. As for Florida State, Toney Douglas is a terrific player, and I could see him using this tourney as his National coming out party. I’m not saying I’m confident they will beat Pitt, but I’m not goddamn Dick Vitale who picks all one seeds, so when I fill out a bracket, I’ll have these two teams in my regional final.

Potential First Round Upsets: Obviously everyone and their mother is going to pick VCU, but I think the UCLA matchup is a tough one for them. Hallon’s teams can always play defense, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them bottle up Maynor. Wisconsin is better than a 12 seed and they’re another well coached team, but I already told you I like Florida State way too much to knock them out in the first round. That brings me to my favorite upset pick in this bracket: Portland State. Xavier is not the same team they’ve been in the past few years. They’ve lost 5 out their last 10 against a non-BCS conference. And I like Portland State’s team this year. They beat Gonzaga which proves they can play with the big boys, and I think they have a decent chance of pulling the 13/4 upset.

The “Who gives a shit” Game: Texas/Minnesota

The “Holy fuck. That guy’s good” Player: I already mentioned Douglas and as I said, I think Maynor may bow out early, so I’m going to go with Scotty Reynolds. He’s not as good as those two guys, and his success is not as imperative to his team’s as it is with the previous two guys, but I have a feeling he’s in for a big tournament. Also it just seems too easy to say Douglas.

The “Holy fuck. That guy sucks” Player: I’d like to say Paulus, but I think that’s pretty evident as he a bench player at this point, so instead I’ll go with Lavance Fields. At some point in this tournament, I truly believe he will murder Pitt’s chances at a title.
