Bracket Thoughts

Well the only two matchups that are even debatable are the last two, so I won’t even bother commenting on the others. I’ll start with the game between Dwyane Wade’s 2003 Midwest team and Brandon Roy’s 2006 DC group. This one is really tough because both backcourts are just terrific. As good as Devin Harris has been this year, I honestly think Ronald J. Dough will eventually be better.  That’s beside the point though in relation to this argument because clearly the Midwest duo has the edge right now. The problem for them is they have a terrible frontcourt where they’re playing a SG, a SF, and an undersized PF; and even though Boone and Armstrong are hardly imposing players, they should be able to control the boards and the paint (not to mention there will be another mismatch for whoever Mo Williams has to guard).  Neither team really has any impressive depth, so I don’t see that being a huge factor either way. I have to say I’m leaning towards the 2006 team here.

In the game between the 1998 East and the ’97 West, I’m going to have to reluctantly agree with Bo. As much as I love the Miller/Duncan combo, they just don’t have enough to beat a team with 3 guys who were legitimate All Stars in their primes and a group of very solid role players.
